Mi’kmaq Nation Stops Gas Wastewater in Shub

First Nations have set up a protest camp in Alton to protest plans to dump enormous quantities of highly salted water into the Stewiacke or Shubenacadie Rivers. On Wednesday, October 1, there will be an all day protest, from 10 am to 5 pm, on Hwy 102 and the Logan Drilling Road.
First Nations efforts to use their treaty rights to protect the rivers have been ignored by government, yet again.
It seems the Department of Environment is incapable of saying NO yet again, and yet again being unwilling to apply fundamental environmental protections.
In this case, it is in the interests of marketing natural gas, much of which may well be coming from the fracking of Pennsylvania.
This is an opportunity to stand together to support both the environment and First Nations rights.
Everything is connected!

Wednesday, October 1, 10 am to 5 pm. Everyone welcome.
Please post and circulate to inform others.
