NOFRAC Fracking Public Comment Meetings

12 06 2014

Hi there!

The fracking review panel has recently announced the dates and locations of public meetings, with the purpose of discussing the panel’s draft recommendations to government.  The first papers released by the panel (available here) have many people shocked that strong evidence has been left out of the panel’s research on how fracking will impact Nova Scotia.  We are very concerned that the panel’s recommendations will ignore the evidence and science that supports a moratorium or ban on fracking!  Visit www.nofrac.com to read our responses to their first papers.

PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND ONE OR MORE MEETINGS THAT ARE CLOSEST TO YOUR COMMUNITY, AND LET ME KNOW SO WE CAN PROMOTE ATTENDANCE AT EVERY LOCATION.  Specific locations are still to be determined. As logistics are confirmed, details will be posted on the events page of the panel website, and in future emails.

Please keep an eye on the panel’s work in the coming weeks- read their papers, respond to them, and share your responses with the panel, the Minister of Energy and the Premier (energyminister@gov.ns.ca , premier@gov.ns.ca).  Their next report should be released on Monday, and will focus on the impacts on health.

See you at the meetings!

Sincerely,
